Proud Partner of:
Giving homeless dogs the ride of their livesEvery year, our shelter receives more dogs and cats than we can possibly find homes for in our community. That’s why we’re constantly looking for new and innovative strategies to reduce the number of pets coming in, while at the same time finding good homes for those we can adopt out. Our goal is to find every adoptable pet a loving home. That’s why we have partnered with the PetSmart Charities® Rescue Waggin’® program. The Rescue Waggin’ program is a unique shelter transport program that moves adoptable dogs from shelters with high areas of pet overpopulation to shelters where adoptable dogs are more in demand. Some shelters around the country have nearly eliminated the overpopulation problem in their communities. Until we achieve that goal, the Rescue Waggin’ program provides our shelter with an opportunity to help our adoptable homeless dogs find loving homes. We are proud to be a part of the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin’ program and pleased to provide our community with another resource that saves homeless pets’ lives.

Thanks to funding from the ASPCA, four members of our staff were recently flown to Humane Society of Boulder Valley to attend Rescue Waggin training. McKamey Animal Center will have 5 staff members certified to conduct canine Rescue Waggin behavior assessments.
