JOB DESCRIPTION

The Animal Placements Specialist is responsible for helping to find wonderful new homes for MAC animals, primarily through our adoptions program but also through foster care, transfer partnerships, and other lifesaving approaches. Under the direction of the Animal Placements Supervisor, this position is responsible for working collaboratively with staff, volunteers and the general public, ensuring non-judgmental customer service excellence and the highest standards of animal care and welfare. Both a love of animals and compassion for humans are essential!

SALARY AND SCHEDULE

  • Rate: Starting pay $10.00/hour
  • Classification: Hourly
  • Hours: Full time position, including evening and weekend shifts

Job Description

Foster care providers are a lifesaving support team for the McKamey Animal Center, and they play an essential role in helping MAC fulfill its mission: Saving Animals, Helping People. The Foster Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of foster activity and engagement, from posting and placing available animals to recruiting, on-boarding, supporting and overseeing foster partners, in accordance with the most current and progressive industry standards. The successful candidate must love people (and animals!), must be adept at interacting with all types of passionate personalities with professionalism and empathy, must be detail oriented and computer savvy, must have the ability to effectively multitask and must be a positive, enthusiastic “face of McKamey” for MAC’s foster program.

Job Summary: Intake Specialist are responsible for providing high quality animal intake and referral services to assist members of the public looking to rehome their own pet or reunite a lost pet. This position supports MAC's population management goals by providing humane intake diversion options for animals that do not need shelter intake and following all applicable MAC intake policies and procedures for those that do. Successful candidates must have both a love of animals and compassion for humans.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 6 months experience in community outreach or equivalent required
  • 6 months of experience in animal welfare or equivalent preferred.

Job Summary: Our Animal Care Specialist work within a team setting to oversee the health, well being, and general care of Center animals. Responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary facility for animals and people while providing humane handling and care for all Center animals on a daily basis.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education/Experience: High school diploma is required. Interest in animal care and welfare. An outlook that is energetic, upbeat and positive.

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate and confer with the managers and associate staff in a positive and constructive way; exercise good judgment when dealing with the public and when making decisions in the absence of a supervisor.

Other: Must be at least 18 years of age, valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
