McKamey Animal Center plans to honor Betty White’s memory and legacy from January 18th through January 23rd by making all adoptable adult dogs available for a $17.00 adoption fee, in recognition of what would have been the Hollywood star’s 100th birthday on January 17th.

MAC’s $17.00 Betty While Adoption Week stems from a viral movement that started after the Hollywood star passed away on December 31st.. The #BettyWhiteChallenge encourages everyone to honor her legacy and love of animals by supporting their local animal shelter.
“We have already received dozens of donations honoring Betty’s memory. We are truly humbled and honored to be the choice for so many to honor an animal welfare icon like her,” said Lauren Mann, MAC’s Director of Advancement. Donations to support MAC’s lifesaving work can be mailed to MAC, dropped off in person, made on MAC’s social media pages or given online at www.mckameyanimalcenter.org.
In addition to the $17.00 Betty White Adoption Week, MAC will partner with local BeCaffeinated coffee stores to celebrate the actress’ legacy. BeCaffeinated will be offering any size “Betty White Mocha” for $5.00, and all proceeds will be donated to MAC. In addition, BeCaffeinated customers planning to adopt a new dog from MAC next week can bring their coffee sleeve to MAC and receive a free dog collar and ID tag along with their discounted adoption fee.
MAC is also honored to be partnering with local Chattanooga pet store Nooga Paws to celebrate Betty White. New adopters who post photos of their newly adopted pet online and tag @McKameyCenter @be_caffeinated, and @noogapaws on social media platforms will be automatically entered for a chance to win a bundle of dog goodies from Nooga Paws.
MAC adopters are no longer required to make an appointment to come meet adoptable animals, but those wishing to make an appointment or get more information should visit the MAC website at www.mckameyanimalcenter.org/adoption or call the adoptions team at (423) 305-6514. Anyone entering the shelter must wear a mask due to continued Covid-19 restrictions.
McKamey Animal Center will be closed on Monday, January 17th in honor of the Martin Luther King Day holiday. MAC will be open for adoptions Tuesday through Friday, 12 PM to 6 PM and Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM to 4 PM.
